The plot took a dramatic turn so soon! I feel so bad for poor Hassan! Hassan and Amir were entered in the Kite competition and Amir really wanted to win so his dad would accept him more, and Hassan helped encourage him. When Amir wanted to back out, Hassan assured him that everything would be okay. In the end Amir one, and Hassan went to fetch him the defeated blue kite. Amir finds him being raped by another mean boy, and Amir does nothing. I felt so much symapthy for Hassan! I feel like Hassan so badly wants him and Amir to be close, but jealousy gets in the way. Amir starts turning against him, and Hassan just takes it. He is such a great friend and Amir pushes him away.
